Prof. Dr. Zavisa Janjic was born on the 26th of February 1949, in Cacak, Serbia, where he completed his primary and secondary education. For the highest ranking and top record at the high school level, he received the Vuk Karadzic diploma. In 1971, he graduated at the Meteorology Department of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (PMF) at the University of Belgrade, and earned his Master’s and Doctorate Degree at the University of Zagreb in 1974 and 1977.

At the University of Belgrade, he became an assistant professor in 1978, an associate professor in 1987 and a full professor in 1991. Starting in 1978, he taught at the Meteorology Department PMF, Belgrade, transferring full time to the Department of Physics, in 1987. In 2000, Prof. Dr. Janjic was elected a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Art (SANU).
